Cammalleri for Bourque

After some outlandish comments made about Montreal's lack of willingness to win and losing attitude; Mike Cammalleri has been dealt to Calgary for Rene Bourque. The Canadiens acquired Rene Bourque, Patrick Holland and a second rounder for the 29-year-old Cammalleri, goalkeeper Karri Ramo and a fifth rounder. Cammalleri clearly wanted out of Montreal, as it is obvious that one cannot make those types of comments in such a major media-oriented hockey city, without facing some sort of ridicule or ramifications. Additionally, with the public uproar regarding the lack of a French coach in Montreal; some of the media focus will now be shifted to the trade, instead of it being on interim Head Coach Randy Cunneyworth.

Calgary will now welcome back a familiar face in Cammalleri, who had a successful stint with the Flames during the 2008-2009 season. Regardless to say the trade works out on both ends of the spectrum, as a shake up in the lineup makes sense for the struggling clubs. This is just the first to come, with some major trade buzz heating up, leading to the February deadline.
