Robbie Keane to LA Galaxy

According to various reports, the Republic of Ireland skipper is on the verge of joining the likes of David Beckham and Landon Donavon at LA Galaxy. Robbie Keane has apparently agreed in principle to a two-year $8 million contract pending a physical in Los Angeles. The former Spurs captain hasn't played a full season at Tottenham since 2009; having had two separate loan spells at Celtic and West Ham in the past two years. The Irish legend holds his country's all-time goals record with 51 goals in 108 matches.

If Keane completes this move, Los Angeles will be forced to move one of the three designated players currently on their roster as MLS rules allow up to three players whose salaries exceed the leagues $2,675,000 salary cap. Currently the LA Galaxy's three designated players are Landon Donavan, David Beckham and Juan Pablo Angel.

To bring a player with Keane's class, skill and ability to the MLS is a massive step in growing Football in North America. I don't mind the move, as long as Keane finishes his career at Celtic.
