On Feb 18, 2011, the Leafs acquired a 1st round pick, prospect Joe Colborne and a conditional 2nd round pick from the Bruins in exchange for veteran D-man Kaberle. The condition of that pick was if the Bruins either re-signed Kaberle or the made it to the cup finals.
The Leafs were then able to parley that conditional 2nd round pick into a deal with Colorado for offensive D-man John-Michael Liles.
The Kaberle deal looks even better now when you consider he was essentially traded for John-Michael Liles, prospect Joe Colborne and a 1st rounder.
