United's search for the perfect replacement for their retiring keeper Edwin van der Sar is finally over. Atletico Madrid's David de Gea has long been expected to complete the Old Trafford move after the conclusion of his successful European Under-21 Championship campaign with Spain. His services reportedly cost Sir Alex about £18 million.
Upon completing his medical in Manchester, it is apparent that he will be dubbed the "new van der Sar" by United supporters because of their similar physical features and style of play.
