Richards dealt to Kings

Thursday afternoon, the Flyers dealt their captain Mike Richards to the Kings in exchange for Brayden Schenn, Wayne Simmonds as well as an undisclosed draft pick. This news came shortly after the Flyers dealt away star centre Jeff Carter in exchange for Jakub Voracek, a 1st rounder and a 3rd rounder and then signed Ilya Bryzgalov to a 9 year $51 million contract. I guess a series of playoff disappointments has made summer cleaning evident.

It's apparent that GM Paul Holmgren had enough of the dressing room banter and found a way out of the long term contracts of Richards and Carter (9 and 11 years respectively). They now have a legit tender locked up and added youngsters Schenn, Simmonds and Voracek to a young nucleus of players (Giroux, and van Riemsdyk).

Pissed Schenn didn't make his way to T.O though...
